Radiant heating

Since 1975, Ceilhit has been the first manufacturer of heating cables for underfloor heating.

What is radiant heating?

All objects emit infrared radiation, which is what produces heat. Two bodies or objects at different temperatures radiate heat toward each other, transferring it from the warmer to the cooler one.

Low-temperature radiant heating is the ideal method for creating a comfortable environment for people. Due to its characteristics, it allows for an economical heating system. By maintaining as uniform temperatures as possible, it minimizes the heat exchange between our bodies and the environment, reducing sensations of heat or cold.

Conventional heating

By convection of hot air (system used by convectors, radiators, etc.)

Radiant heating

Like the radiation from the sun, which transfers heat directly to our bodies, walls, and objects.

Advantages of radiant heating

At Ceilhit, we understand the benefits that radiant heating can bring to homes, offices, and industries, at all times and under any circumstances.

Outstanding comfort

It emits gentle heat, creating an optimal feeling of well-being. It minimizes the temperature difference between the environment and occupants. Enjoy the pleasant feeling of walking barefoot on a warm or temperate floor—say goodbye to the chill of tiled floors.

Low installation and maintenance costs

Installation is very affordable and straightforward, both in new constructions and renovations. With an additional thickness of less than 1 or 2 cm, electric underfloor heating can be installed over existing flooring. Once installed, it requires no maintenance.

Aesthetic / Invisible / Safe

This is an invisible integrated heating system, leaving walls free for furnishing and decorating without limits. It is connected directly to the electricity and does not require space for boilers nor air or water conduits.

Hygienic

Radiant heating minimizes air movement caused by convection, thereby eliminating the circulation of dust particles and allergens in the environment. It does not consume oxygen, neither produce smoke, and maintains a consistent level of humidity.

Energy-efficient system

Several studies demonstrate the energy savings provided by installing a radiant heating system compared to a conventional hot air convection system.

Compatible with sustainable energy

It is a sustainable system compatible with energy sources such as wind, solar, and others, allowing you to be ready for a cleaner future.

Underfloor heating

The system consists of installing a heating element—such as a cable, mat, or radiant foil—integrated into the floor construction beneath the flooring. In this way, the room’s floor becomes a low-temperature radiant heat emitter, providing optimal comfort.

Radiant Panels vs. Convectors

Which is better?

  • The surface of radiant panels emits infrared heat with a wavelength not exceeding 5 micrometers, which is mostly absorbed by the human body and objects in the room.
  • As the thermal radiation raises the temperature of the room’s objects to 20–22ºC, thermal comfort is achieved with an air temperature of just 18–19ºC, resulting in energy savings of at least 20% compared to an air convection system.
  • The vertical temperature distribution is more uniform, with a maximum difference of 2ºC, whereas convection systems can generate differences up to 6ºC (1ºC per every 30–50 cm of height). This reduces air and dust particle circulation.
  • Because glass is not transparent to this type of radiation, heat loss through windows and glass surfaces is minimized.
  • Walls warm up before the air does, preventing surface condensation that can damage walls without reducing the relative humidity in the room.
  • Radiant panels allow for zoned heating in large rooms or those with high ceilings. In spaces with large air volumes, radiant panels are the only viable, comfortable, and economical heating solution.
