Floor thermal insulation is a key component of underfloor heating systems, both in terms of energy efficiency and proper operation.
Its main function is to minimize heat loss through the bottom layer, directing the heat flow upward. This reduces energy consumption and shortens the system’s response time.

In most renovation projects, when thermal insulation is lacking or located too deep below the existing floor, special floor insulation boards help prevent heat loss into the existing subfloor and structure. This significantly lowers operating costs and improves the heating system’s responsiveness.

Floor thermal insulation for heating cables and mats

F-Board is a special extruded polystyrene floor insulation board designed for use beneath heating mats and cables. Under normal conditions, floor heating from 20 to 28°C takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. With additional insulation, this process can be reduced to just 10–15 minutes—an essential factor for comfort in areas like bathrooms or kitchens where warm floors are desired.

  1. Floor covering (tiles, etc.).
  2. Flexible tile adhesive.
  3. Heating mat (or cable).
  4. Floor sensor.
  5. Additional thermal insulation (F-Board).
  6. Flexible tile adhesive.
  7. Original floor (old tiles, concrete).

 

F-Board features reinforced cement layers on both sides, with fiberglass mesh for added mechanical strength. This provides excellent adhesion to flexible cement above and below, making installation easier and more secure.
